2022 is here!
Consider this scenario, you have a great product/service, a great marketing strategy for that product and a fantastic team working behind the scenes to bring the magic to life. Yet there seems to be an unidentified chasm that is not allowing you to meet those high targets, causing inconsistencies in service delivery, inefficient operations and overall lack of stability. Does this sound familiar to you? If yes, then what can be done to fix it?
Well, the answer to that question lies in your Business Processes. They are the key element and major asset of any organisation, irrespective of its size. To help shed some light on this we have gone ahead and broken down the steps so you can identify and create or improve your business process:
Here is where we need to take a step back and refocus. Is it a goal that you’re setting, or is it a milestone that you should be setting? The minute we say goal, it becomes about a destination, whereas a milestone, is about achieving that first step on what is essentially a journey. While the goal might not be something you can start in the present or now. But the journey?
That’s something you can surely start right away.
Today it is about setting milestones, rather than goals!
The key is to keep on moving forward and keep tracking your steps! How do you know that you’re making progress? What are the gains you made along the way? Know the gaps and then use them as a target or a milestone. Every milestone you achieve you become more confident, feel more motivated and that aids you in jumping on to the next step. And before you know it, you’re a few steps away from the big, audacious goal you initially thought of.

Do you know of The Car Rear-View Mirror and windshield analogy?
When we are driving a car. Where do we look? Do we look through the windshield or do we look through the rear-view mirror? Yes, it is the windshield! There is a reason why the windshield is bigger than the rear-view mirror. Where you are going is much more important than where you have been. The rear-view mirror and the wing mirrors are for guidance. It’s there to show you what happened in the past. That’s your guide. But conversely, the windshield is to say, you have a broader opportunity in front of you, so look ahead, set those milestones and the world is your oyster.
Reiterate the vision or goals your business is heading towards and look out for the opportunities and threats! Identify what to stop, start and keep doing and communicate what is expected of each team member.
Remember, it’s all about sharing the vision with the team, just to make sure everyone is on the right target. Engage your team in the big picture. As John C Maxwell says, ‘Nothing of significance was ever achieved by an individual acting alone. Look below the surface and you will find all seemingly solo acts, were really team efforts.’
Remember, you hold the steering wheel so keep it steady and stay focused on that journey because you’ll surely end up further than you had initially aimed to be.
Most importantly, enjoy the drive!
